Job Detail
- Welding Inspection:
- Conduct visual inspections of welding activities, including pre-weld inspections, in-process inspections, and post-weld inspections, to verify compliance with welding procedures, specifications, and applicable codes (e.g, ASME, API, AWS).
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), and radiographic testing (RT), to evaluate weld quality and detect defects.
- Ensure proper welding techniques, procedures, and materials are used, and address any deviations or discrepancies identified during inspections.
- Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with welding engineers, supervisors, and contractors to establish quality control procedures and specifications for welding activities in the refinery.
- Monitor and evaluate welding parameters, including weld joint preparation, fit-up, heat input, and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), to ensure adherence to quality standards and project requirements.
- Verify the qualifications and certifications of welding personnel, including welders, welding operators, and welding procedures, to ensure compliance with industry regulations and project specifications.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of welding inspections, test results, and quality assurance activities using refinery’s documentation and reporting systems.
- Prepare inspection reports, documentation packages, and quality control records for internal review and external audits.
- Communicate inspection findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to project stakeholders, including engineers, project managers, and regulatory authorities.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Promote a culture of safety and adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and best practices in all welding activities.
- Identify potential safety hazards, risks, and non-compliance issues related to welding operations, and take appropriate corrective actions to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
