Job Detail
- Install ship foundations, ventilation systems, bulkheads, and shipboard furniture.
- Fabricate and assemble sheet metal parts in accordance with engineering specifications and blueprints.
- Read and interpret complex ventilation assembly drawings, sketches, and blueprints, including weld symbols, material specifications, and reference lines.
- Lay out and fit materials using fractional and decimal dimensions.
- Operate various hand and power tools such as drills, grinders, rivet guns, shears, press brakes, and drill presses.
- Work safely and efficiently in a physically demanding shipyard or industrial environment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Qualifications Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a First-Class Sheet Metal Mechanic or equivalent.
- Marine experience preferred. however, aircraft, industrial, or commercial sheet metal experience is acceptable.
- Strong understanding of metal fabrication techniques and blueprint reading.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to meet physical requirements, including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces or at heights.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards applicable to the shipbuilding or industrial environment.
