Job Detail
- Lead the fabrication and installation of residential HVAC duct systems, fittings, and accessories.
- Interpret complex blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications.
- Supervise and train Sheet Metal Installer I and II team members on proper installation methods and safety practices.
- Ensure all duct systems are properly sized, sealed, and supported in compliance with code and design standards.
- Perform advanced fabrication using brakes, shears, plasma cutters, and hand tools.
- Coordinate work with other trades and field supervisors to maintain project schedules.
- Conduct inspections and testing for airflow, pressure, and system performance.
- Ensure all installations meet quality standards and mechanical codes.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time tracking.
- Enforce safety rules and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced understanding of sheet metal fabrication, duct design, and installation principles.
- Skilled in interpreting complex mechanical plans and specifications.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to perform precise measurements, cuts, and alignments.
- Knowledge of air balancing, system testing, and code compliance.
- Proficient with a wide range of hand, power, and fabrication tools.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
- Education and Qualifications: (Required and/or preferred)
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years of experience in residential HVAC or sheet metal installation required.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship program preferred.
- Supervisory experience or crew leadership preferred.
- Field of Study:
- Sheet Metal Fabrication, HVAC Systems, or Mechanical Trades.
- Certifications and Licenses:
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- NCCER or equivalent trade certification preferred.
- Aerial lift, forklift, or confined space certification a plus.
- Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Field-based and shop-based role depending on project needs.
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments, varying weather conditions, confined spaces, and heights.
- Frequent use of hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal machinery.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 75 lbs. frequently.
- Requires standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders for extended periods.
