• Project Planning Coordination
• Blueprint Review: Review project blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings to understand the scope and requirements of the plumbing installation.
• Scheduling: Plan and develop work schedules for plumbing crews and subcontractors, coordinating with the general contractor and other trade supervisors (e.g, electrical, HVAC) to ensure seamless project execution and avoid delays.
• Logistics Procurement: Estimate material and labor needs, manage the ordering and delivery of materials and equipment to the site in a timely fashion, and monitor their use to stay within budget.
• Resource Management: Determine how many plumbers and subcontractors are needed for the project and manage their allocation across different phases.
• Site Supervision Quality Control
• On-Site Management: Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of plumbing crews, providing direction and technical guidance to ensure high-quality workmanship.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct regular site inspections and testing (e.g, hydrotesting) to monitor progress and ensure all installations meet quality standards, project specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any issues, discrepancies, or unexpected problems that arise during the construction process.
• Safety Compliance
• Safety Enforcement: Implement and enforce rigorous safety protocols and regulations (e.g, OSHA standards) on the job site, conducting regular safety meetings (“toolbox talks”) and accident investigations as needed.
• Code Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to local, state, and national plumbing codes and building regulations, coordinating required inspections with governing authorities.
• Administration Reporting
• Documentation: Maintain detailed project records, including daily logs, progress reports, timesheets, and as-built drawings.
• Budgeting Cost Control: Monitor project costs and labor reporting, collaborating with project managers to stay within budgetary guidelines and assisting with cost estimates for additional work.
• Client Relations: Maintain positive relationships with clients, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, communicating project status and addressing concerns.
• Mentorship Training
• Team Leadership: Mentor, train, and develop on-site plumbing staff, fostering a culture of excellence and efficiency.

• Active Site Supervision: Spending a significant amount of time in the field (of1070% of their day) observing work in progress to provide technical guidance, ensure proper installation techniques, and maintain a high standard of quality control.
• Safety Enforcement: Conducting daily “toolbox talks” or safety meetings with crews to communicate hazards, enforce safety protocols (e.g, OSHA standards), inspect the site for safe practices, and investigate any incidents if they occur.
• Coordination with Other Trades: Meeting and communicating frequently with other trade supervisors (e.g, electrical, HVAC) and the general contractor to coordinate work, resolve potential conflicts (e.g, collisions in pipe routing), and ensure a smooth workflow.
• Material and Equipment Management: Verifying that the necessary materials, tools, and equipment for the day’s tasks are available on-site. This includes performing quick inventory checks and coordinating with suppliers for timely deliveries to prevent delays.
• Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Addressing unforeseen issues or discrepancies that arise during the day in real-time, making immediate decisions to resolve problems quickly without direction from a superior.
