Job Detail
- Operate, monitor, and maintain plant utilities including ammonia refrigeration, steam, compressed air, chilled water, HVAC systems
- Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on utility equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues related to utility systems, with emphasis on ammonia refrigeration systems
- Perform routine inspections, monitoring, and recording of operating conditions, including pressure, temperature, flow, and chemical levels
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, PSM (Process Safety Management), RMP (Risk Management Program), and other regulatory requirements related to ammonia and utilities operations
- Respond to equipment alarms, emergencies, and breakdowns to minimize impact on production
- Maintain accurate maintenance and compliance records, logs, and reports
- Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to support plant operations and projects
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance energy efficiency, refrigeration system reliability, and overall plant performance
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred- Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in utilities, ammonia refrigeration, or industrial plant operations
- Knowledge of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems (IIAR standards preferred)
- Experience with boilers, HVAC, air compressors, and water treatment systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and P&IDs
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in mechanical, electrical, and control systems
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) preferred
- RETA certification or equivalent ammonia refrigeration training strongly preferred
- Must be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs- and perform physical tasks such as climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
- Must be able to work in warm and cold environments, confined spaces, and at heights as required
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to support 24/7 operations
- Exposure to loud noise, ammonia, moving equipment, and chemicals with proper PPE provided
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training- Total pay include other forms of compensation
