Job Detail
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain plant utilities including ammonia refrigeration, steam, compressed air, chilled water, HVAC systems
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on utility equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues related to utility systems, with emphasis on ammonia refrigeration systems
  • Perform routine inspections, monitoring, and recording of operating conditions, including pressure, temperature, flow, and chemical levels
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, PSM (Process Safety Management), RMP (Risk Management Program), and other regulatory requirements related to ammonia and utilities operations
  • Respond to equipment alarms, emergencies, and breakdowns to minimize impact on production
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and compliance records, logs, and reports
  • Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to support plant operations and projects
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance energy efficiency, refrigeration system reliability, and overall plant performance
  • All other duties as assigned


  • Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in utilities, ammonia refrigeration, or industrial plant operations
  • Knowledge of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems (IIAR standards preferred)
  • Experience with boilers, HVAC, air compressors, and water treatment systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and P&IDs
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) preferred
  • RETA certification or equivalent ammonia refrigeration training strongly preferred
  • Must be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively


  • Physical & Work Environment Requirements

    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • and perform physical tasks such as climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
  • Must be able to work in warm and cold environments, confined spaces, and at heights as required
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to support 24/7 operations
  • Exposure to loud noise, ammonia, moving equipment, and chemicals with proper PPE provided


  • Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training
  • Total pay include other forms of compensation
