Job Description

Job Detail
  • Perform quantity take-offs, and pricing of mechanical, plumbing, and process piping estimates
  • Develop and document logical assumptions during conceptual estimating activities, participate in estimate review and assist with final assembly of estimate
  • Solicit subcontractors during the bidding process and organize information post-bid for future reference
  • Communicate with project leads to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements
  • Conduct reviews of milestone documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities and recommendations and to identify changes in work scope
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal clients, subcontractors & vendors
  • Prepare scopes of work for subcontractors and suppliers and coordinate scopes of work across disciplines
  • Maintain current, working knowledge of MEP codes
  • Familiar with sheet metal, hydronic, refrigeration & plumbing systems
  • Develops and documents assumptions during estimating activities and applies these assumptions to takeoff tasks
  • Compiles final list of assumptions and clarifications for inclusion with the estimate to the owner
  • Assist the Project team, in developing a detailed set of General Conditions including a project schedule indicating the timeline of staff, equipment, and assets
  • Aids field with change order pricing when needed
  • Attends job walks, takes notes and photos for accurate scope of work
  • Ability to understand and coordinate mechanical systems with other building trades
  • Coordinate with the Procurement Manager to assist with procurement of equipment, subcontractors, and commodities



  • Qualifications

    Ability to understand and coordinate mechanical systems with other trades
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering OR 5 years of equivalent estimating experience
  • General knowledge of construction principles, processes, and contractual delivery methods (negotiated/hard bids, GMP processes)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam, Winest, etc
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with an emphasis on multi-tasking
