Job Detail
- Vehicle Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Troubleshoot and repair of gasoline and diesel engines, small engines (2 and 4 cycle), all types of passenger and work vehicles, loaders, lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, sweepers, and other equipment.
- Perform all phases of automotive and bus repair (brakes, axle repair, engines, fuel systems, cooling, A/C, and electrical, etc.). Minor transmission repair, welding cutting, and fabrication.
- Perform tractor and mower repairs (hydraulics, U-joints repairs, belts, blade, oil changes, minor welding repairs, etc.).
- Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) on motor pool fleet, Physical Plant, and all University owned vehicles and equipment on the main campus.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot equipment problems and electronics. Grounds and Operational Support: Operate and repair snow removal equipment and assist with snow removal as needed.
- Operate and repair lawn maintenance equipment and assist with all phases of grounds duties as needed.
- Other duties within the Physical Plant as assigned. Teamwork Safety: Provide instructions to assistants and assist with training of new co-workers.
- Maintain a positive working relations with co-workers, faculty, staff, students, and the general public. will/can be required to work as a member of an assigned crew on large projects.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a crew.
- Understand and follow all safety procedures and use of safety equipment.
- Ability to organize and maintain work station/area.
- Your Qualifications
- Essential Education: High School diploma or G.E.D required.
- Experience: Two years documented experience in the mechanical field.
- Experience: Two years documented experience in grounds equipment and automotive/truck repair in the institutional, industrial, or commercial environment. Other related experience will be considered.
- Licensure: Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
- Licensure: Possess a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement or be able to acquire 1within 90 days of hire.
- Skills: Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
- Schedule: Available to work after hours when deemed necessary by the supervisor. Required to work on snow removal crew and on a weekend rotation with other members of the Grounds Dept.
