Maintenance Technician- Landscaping & Grounds

Abernethy Laurels is seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician with a strong background in lawn care, landscaping, and general maintenance. The ideal candidate will have 5–6 years of hands-on experience in groundskeeping, operating heavy equipment, and performing basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks. A passion for outdoor work and a working knowledge of plants, bushes, and trees is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain landscaped areas, including planting, pruning and seasonal clean-up.
Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as tractors, skid steers, and other landscaping machinery.
Conduct minor repairs and maintenance in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry as needed.
Assist with irrigation system maintenance and troubleshooting.
Monitor plant health and recommend treatments or replacements as necessary.
Ensure all grounds and outdoor areas are safe, clean, and visually appealing.
Support seasonal projects such as snow removal, leaf cleanup, and storm preparation.
Collaborate with the Facilities team to support overall campus maintenance needs.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5–6 years of experience in landscaping, lawn care, and general maintenance.
Proficient in operating heavy equipment and tractors.
Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
Familiarity with plant care, including trees, shrubs, and flowers.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Valid driver’s license required
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of native plants and sustainable landscaping practices
