  • Maintenance Repair Specialists perform a variety of skilled work in 2or more of the mechanical and construction trades in order to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, grounds and equipment.
  • Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
  • The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Maintenance Repair Specialist 1 located in Elko, Nevada. The incumbent performs semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks across various trades to support buildings, facilities, and equipment, working independently with minimal supervision or training. The key responsibilities include plumbing, general maintenance such as repairing and modifying facilities and fixtures including lock installation, key cutting, and blind installation and may also involve custom construction projects. Painting which includes basic interior work such as prepping surfaces (taping, texturing, patching) and setting up necessary equipment like ladders and scaffolding. Electrical work which includes Basic tasks including replacing parts in faulty equipment, changing ballasts on various voltage fixtures (120v, 277v, 480v), and adjusting/cleaning electronic controls. This role may involve working nights, weekends, and holidays, participating in an on-call rotation with other maintenance personnel. DCFS partners with families, communities, and agencies to support Nevada’s children and families. Its programs include child protective and welfare services, mental and behavioral health treatment, residential care, and statewide juvenile justice services, including youth training centers and parole. DCFS is a complex organization with dedicated staff focused on strengthening families and communities.   • In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements: Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Four years of progressively responsible experience under the supervision of journey level trades persons in 2or more of the major building or mechanical trades which included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, laying out jobs and ordering materials. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
