Hvac/r technician – job descriptionposition summary the hvac/r technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and installing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for residential, commercial, and light industrial customers.

$25 – $45 an hour

Work Highlights and Accomplishments is required

• Diagnose and repair HVAC/R system issues including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, refrigeration units, and controls
• Perform preventive maintenance: inspect, clean, test, and tune equipment for optimal performance
• Install new HVAC/R systems, components, and related equipment
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration problems
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and manufacturer manuals
• Document work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future service
• Communicate clearly with customers about findings, options, and pricing
• Follow safety protocols, EPA guidelines, and company procedures
• Maintain tools, company vehicle, and inventory
• Participate in on-call rotation as required
• Identify opportunities for system improvements, upgrades, and energy-efficient solutions
• Required Qualifications
• 1–5+ years of experience in HVAC/R service or installation (depending on position level)
• EPA 608 Certification (Type II or Universal preferred)
• Strong understanding of refrigeration, electrical circuits, airflow, and mechanical systems
• Ability to use gauges, meters, pumps, recovery machines, and diagnostic tools
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Strong communication and customer-service skills
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in confined spaces, attics, roofs, and all weather conditions
• Preferred Qualifications
• NATE Certification or equivalent
• Experience with commercial refrigeration systems
• Knowledge of building automation or advanced controls
• Boiler, chiller, or VRF system experience
