Job Detail
  • Technical Operations Maintenance: Operate, maintain, and repair all equipment used for HVAC, including operations of a central heating plant (steam and/or hot water) and a central chilled water plant.
  • Learn locations of all HVAC equipment and how they relate to each building.
  • Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
  • Installs heating and air conditioning equipment and systems for the purpose of providing enhanced safety regulations.
  • Performs maintenance on HVAC units for the purpose of ensuring the ongoing functioning of HVAC systems.
  • Repairs heating and air conditioning systems and/or components (e.g pumps, motors, air handlers, fan coils, piping, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a comfortable work environment.
  • Monitors HVAC systems and their components (e.g heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs, and recommending preventative maintenance.
  • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating.
  • Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols. Coordination Leadership Duties: Coordinates with assigned supervisor and other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work order efficiently.
  • Ability to manage when the supervisor is away.
  • Ability to manage a job/project independently.
  • Answer any questions and/or guide other technicians concerning HVAC trade practices.
  • Working under direct supervision using standardized routines. providing information and/or advising others. General Duties Compliance: Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Problem solving with data frequently requiring independent interpretation of guidelines. and problem solving with equipment.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
  • Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities. communicating with diverse groups. meeting deadlines and schedules. working as part of a team. working with constant interruptions. and displaying mechanical aptitude.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
  • Your Qualifications
  • Essential Education: Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Must have 5 years’ experience or more in commercial HVAC chillers, boilers, and steam operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge in commercial HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and writ10reference material.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools associated with the HVAC field.
  • Ability to operate a tablet.
  • Must have basic knowledge of computer operation for use on our energy management and work order systems.
  • Computer skills to understand and monitor HVAC controls.
  • Understand the different type of air distribution systems such as VAV, FCU, AHU, and MAV. Licensure: Must have a valid Indiana driver’s license.
  • Schedule: Required to work regular, periodic emergencies, and weekend shifts at any campus when needed. Our Benefits
