Job Brief
This position assists in the maintenance of buildings and other physical structures, grounds and infrastructure of the heronswood campus, which includes the heronswood garden and the port gamble s’klallam foundation.
Salary Detail
$20.95 – $24.09 an hour
Experience

Job Detail
- Assists with painting and/or repairing masonry, woodwork, windows, and furnishings. building repairs, installing/repairing cabinets and counters, walls, floors, doors, building framework and trim. maintaining plumbing/electrical, moving/assembling furniture and equipment, maintaining greenhouse structures.
- Assists with grounds work, including mowing, hedge clipping, raking, garden waste disposal, spreading mulch, tree care/removal, firewood splitting.
- Assists with infrastructure work including maintaining roadways and trails, irrigation repairs, building/maintaining fences, gates, garden signage, wooden structures (arbors, decks etc.).
- Custodian to all Heronswood campus buildings, keeping them in a clean and sanitary condition. Duties include cleaning floors (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming), surfaces, windows, cleaning and sanitizing toilets, sinks, common touch surfaces (door handles, light switches), indoor pest control, managing/restocking custodial supplies.
- Assists in securing buildings within the Heronswood property, and the entry gates. Secures vehicles and equipment.
- Follows adherence to standard safety practices for all work activities (e.g proper use of tools and equipment, safe application of chemical products, use of protective clothing and footwear, ear and eye protection, hardhats, etc.).
- Must be able to perform all work duties with minimal interruption to other staff occupying buildings or visiting public.
- This position requires some evening and weekend work.
- This position has no direct reports.
- This position has no budgetary responsibility.
- This position will require the holder to be in regular contact with staff within this department, with garden customers and suppliers, staff of other Tribal departments and the wider Tribal Community.

- Education and Certifications: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Drivers License required.
- Experience: At least 1 years’ experience in a maintenance, construction, or facilities role required.
- A working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems, buildings maintenance and repair, grounds maintenance, and traffic management preferred.
- A working knowledge of a broad range of power tools and other necessary equipment preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Regularly required to finger, handle, reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to walk, sit, stand.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Occasionally required to climb ladders up to 12’ to carry out repair tasks.
- Normal audio and visual acuity.
- Frequently required to work outside, of10in inclement weather.
- Regularly utilizes hazardous materials (herbicides, pesticides, cleaning chemicals etc.).
- Must pass a criminal background check and a UA Drug Alcohol Test.
- Travel Requirements: Local, Statewide, and out of state travel may be required.
