Job Detail
  • Hire and supervise full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff. Supervise staff to ensure completion of daily work assignments. help make field decisions regarding job procedures. work standards and equipment use. Train staff on monitoring, maintenance, and servicing of equipment to ensure operational standards. Ensure golf courses are staffed and scheduled appropriately.
  • Establish and enforce work methods, procedures and standards that assure all maintenance activities follow Park District policies and safety standards.
  • Meet regularly with staff to discuss and resolve special projects and workload issues, provides assistance and training in all areas of responsibility and works with employees to correct performance deficiencies.
  • Develop and implement an agronomic plan that is both cost effective and beneficial for the golf courses. Instruct and assist with the application of herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers, and other chemicals related to turf maintenance. Follow all federal, state, and local guidelines pertaining to the chemical(s) being used. Ensure records are kept and proper storage of chemicals is in accordance with department procedures.
  • Help to develop and work within a budget relating to equipment, supplies and staff. Make recommendations on what resources are needed and help write specifications for equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to communicate with the public and local residents with a thoughtful and measured approach when issues arise from interactions between park district property, private property, and/or staff.
  • Communicate and work with other municipal agencies to share resources and information in providing quality service to the residents of the City of Fargo.
  • Oversee the operation, design, and maintenance of golf course irrigation systems. Responsible for spring start up and fall winterization of irrigation systems.
  • Ensure golf staff, supplies and equipment are being utilized in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Supervise the maintenance of all golf course equipment to ensure equipment is maintained to manufacture and departmental standards. OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Experience and Skills:
  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Accepted education and experience are as follows: Four-year degree in Turf Management with 1to 2years’ experience as an assistant superintendent.
  • Two-year degree in Turf Management with 3to 5years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent.
  • Minimum of 7 years of turf maintenance experience with at least 1year of experience as an Assistant Superintendent.
  • Previous golf course construction or renovation experience is highly preferred. CREDENTIALS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have or the ability to obtain within 6months of hire, a North Dakota Pesticide Applicators license.
  • Have or the ability to obtain a Class A GCSAA Accreditation, within 1year of eligibility to be certified. Must keep accreditation current.
