Job Detail
  • Prepares interior and exterior surfaces for painting, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and priming.
  • Applies paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to buildings, fixtures, and equipment using brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
  • Mixes and matches paints and stains to achieve desired colors and textures.
  • Performs minor drywall and plaster repairs prior to painting.
  • Maintains tools, equipment, and painting supplies in good working order.
  • Sets up and cleans work areas to ensure safety and minimize disruption to residents.
  • Safely uses ladders, scaffolding, and lifts in compliance with OSHA and Housing Authority safety standards.
  • Assists maintenance staff with general building repairs and upkeep as assigned.
  • Maintains accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent. Collaborate with team members: Coordinate with other maintenance staff, contractors, and property management personnel to ensure efficient completion of tasks and effective communication.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of proper painting techniques, materials, tools, and surface preparation methods.
  • Ability to mix and match colors and finishes.
  • Familiarity with safety practices, including handling of paints, solvents, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, safety instructions, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Good physical condition and ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work at heights.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work respectfully with residents and coworkers. Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in painting and building maintenance work.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of HUD housing standards and public housing environments preferred. Work Environment:
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • May be exposed to paint fumes, dust, and chemicals. Requires standing, bending, climbing, and reaching for extended periods.
