Job Detail
  • Install, operate, maintain, and repair shipboard or shore-based electronic, electrical, or mechanical systems
  • Perform system testing and troubleshooting to identify and correct equipment malfunctions
  • Assist engineers and technical staff in system design, upgrades, and modifications
  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure operational readiness
  • Document maintenance actions and test results in technical logs or databases
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Support equipment installations, including cabling, hardware setup, and configuration
  • Operate diagnostic and test equipment to ensure systems meet performance standards
  • Provide technical support during shipboard trials, certifications, or system upgrades
  • Follow safety, security, and quality control procedures in all maintenance and repair activities


  • Qualifications

    Education: Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED
  • Experience: 12 years with a degree/formal training or 14 years with HS/GED of practical experience to include: design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents, and drawings
  • Individual shall have notable experience performing one or a combination of the following duties: prepares designs and specifications for various complex equipment or systems (e

  • , a heating system in an office building, or new electronic components such as solid state devices for instrumentation equipment); plans approach to solve design problems; conceives and recommends new design techniques; resolves design problems with contract personnel, and assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system; designs and coordinates test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of preliminary design; uses untried and untested measurement techniques; and improves the performance of the equipment
  • advise equipment users on redesign to solve unique operational deficiencies; plans approach and conducts various experiments to develop equipment or systems characterized by (a) difficult performance requirements because of conflicting attributes such as versatility, size, and ease of operation; or (b) unusual combination of techniques or components
