Job Brief
Job overview: the locomotive electrician will work within the mechanical department to address and execute maintenance, troubleshooting and general repair to rbmn’s locomotive fleet.

Salary Detail
$26.75 – $34.00 an hour

Job Detail
  • Mechanical/Electrical repairs to locomotive fleet.
  • Regularly able to work at 2separate locomotive shops to include Port Clinton and Nesquehoning to repair locomotes as needed.
  • Assist and report to anywhere across the Reading and Northern system as needed.
  • Ability to be on-call for locomotive related emergencies on evenings and weekends. • Flexibility to work weekends as needed.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and assess locomotive repair and inspection needs.
  • Understand and get qualified under railroad specific rules and regulations.
  • Address and handle urgent and time sensitive repairs to locomotive fleet.
  • Other duties and projects assigned and required.
  • Have an understanding of how to use various electrical meters to repair locomotives.
  • Use knowledge of DC/AC electrics to safely work around locomotives.
  • Qualifications
  • Education and/or experience in diesel engine repair/maintenance.
  • Superior organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow writ10and verbal instructions.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Finger dexterity, manage multiple tasks/projects, close attention to detail and adapt to a fast pace and ever-changing work environment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Operational vehicle to commute to/from work.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in various locations on various shifts from day-to-day to include some weekend work.
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, climb and/or bend for long periods of time.
  • Willingness to be on-call when and where necessary.
  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing workload.
  • Ability to successfully complete FRA mandated background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • TEAM player and learning from senior teammates.
