Job Brief
Position summary:the diesel technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered vehicles within the dealership’s service department.
Salary Detail
$80,000 – $140,000 a year

Job Detail
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, drivetrains, suspension systems, brakes, and electrical components on light-, medium-, or heavy-duty vehicles.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections in accordance with dealership and manufacturer guidelines.
- Utilize factory diagnostic tools, equipment, and software to accurately identify issues and complete repairs.
- Complete repair orders efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Communicate with service advisors regarding required repairs, additional work, and estimated completion times.
- Document all work performed in compliance with dealership and manufacturer requirements.
- Participate in manufacturer training programs and maintain up-to-date certifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Assist other technicians and support teamwork across the service department.
- Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required. technical or vocational training in diesel technology preferred.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience as a diesel technician (dealership experience strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with manufacturer diagnostic software and repair protocols (e.g, Cummins INSITE, Ford IDS, GM GDS2, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems, hydraulics, and electrical diagnostics.
- Valid driver’s license. CDL or state inspection license a plus.
- ASE or OEM certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain).
