Job Detail
- Set up and operate CNC machines independently (mills, lathes, etc.) for production and prototype parts
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Machine parts to precise tolerances (±01″)
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, indicators, bore gages, etc.)
- Identify and resolve machining issues (tool wear, surface finish, dimensional deviations)
- Collaborate with programming and engineering staff to improve process quality and efficiency
- Learn and adapt to new machines, software, and in-house manufacturing technology
- Assist in training and mentoring Level 1 machinists when appropriate
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
- Run multiple machines simultaneously as assigned Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on CNC lathe machining experience
- Strong knowledge of machining principles, materials, feeds, speeds, and tooling
- Proven ability to perform full setups and run production with minimal supervision
- Proficient in reading engineering drawings and applying GDT
- Experience holding close tolerances (±01″) in a production environment
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn company-specific machines and processes
- Familiarity with Siemens Sinumerik, ProtoTRAK, or Mazak controls
- Experience machining a wide range of materials, including aluminum, cast iron and various steels
- Background in a job shop, toolroom, or custom machine environment
- Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices DISCLAIMER
