Job Detail
- Most of our installers have been with us 20+ years. One installer just retired after starting with us in 1972 – that’s 53 years with the same company. You don’t stay somewhere that long unless you’re treated right.
- We’re growing. We’re hiring because business is strong and we need to add to our team – not because we can’t keep people or keep them busy.
- Our customers rave about our installers by name. When you do great work, people notice. Our reviews are full of customers praising our installation teams.
- When you join our in-house carpet installation team, you’re joining a company that values experience, rewards loyalty, and gives you steady work year-round.
- What Makes This Different from Every Other Carpet Installer Job:
- Steady work, no hunting for jobs: You show up, we have carpet installs lined up. No dry spells, no scrambling for the next gig, no wondering where your next paycheck is coming from. We’ve been busy for 55+ years and we’re growing.
- Company van (take home every night): No wear and tear on your personal vehicle. No mileage out of your pocket. Drive the van home, show up to the job site the next morning. Tools and materials already loaded.
- 100% health insurance premium paid by us: We cover your health insurance completely. Not a subsidy. Not a discount. 100%. How many other carpet companies offer that?
- Simple IRA with 3% company match: We help you build for retirement. Every paycheck, we match 3% of your contributions. That’s free money for your future.
- In-house team (not subcontractor chaos): You’re part of a real team. You’re not juggling 5 different general contractors, chasing payments, or dealing with shady middlemen. You work for us, we pay you on time, every time.
- 55+ years in business (since 1969): We’re not a fly-by-night operation. We’ve been here longer than most of our competitors have been alive. Stability matters.
- Best reputation in Richmond: 4.8 stars, 449+ reviews, customers love our work. You’ll be proud to tell people where you work.
- 20+ year installer retention: Our installers stay because we treat them right. One just retired after 53 years. That doesn’t happen by accident.
- What You’ll Do:
- Install residential and light commercial carpet (cut pile, loop pile, berber, patterned carpet, carpet tile)
- Prepare subfloors, remove old carpet, install tack strip and padding
- Measure, cut, seam, stretch, and trim carpet per manufacturer specs
- Handle stairs, closets, and custom work (we do quality installs, not just “stretch and go”)
- Work with a small team (usually 2-person crews) on scheduled jobs
- Provide excellent customer service – you’re representing LM in customers’ homes
- Maintain tools and company van, keep job sites clean and professional
- What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: 2+ years of carpet installation experience (residential and/or commercial)
- Skills: You know how to prep, seam, stretch, and trim carpet correctly. You take pride in your work and know what a quality install looks like.
- Professionalism: You show up on time, communicate well, and treat customers’ homes with respect.
- Reliability: Clean driving record, reliable transportation to/from our shop (you’ll take the van from there).
- Attitude: Coachable, team-oriented, willing to learn new products and techniques (carpet technology has changed a lot – we stay current).
- What Success Looks Like:You’re not just “laying carpet” – you’re building a reputation. Our best carpet installers are proud of their work. They know customers talk about them by name in reviews. They show up to jobs, do great work, and customers thank them personally.
- If you’re tired of the subcontractor grind and want to be part of a team that values quality carpet work, treats you right, and gives you the tools (literally and figuratively) to succeed, this is it.
- Why Our Carpet Installers Stay:
- No chasing payments: You’re on payroll, paid every week. No waiting 30-60-90 days for a check.
- Steady work year-round: We’ve been doing this for 55+ years, we’re growing, and we’re not going anywhere.
- Real benefits: Health insurance (100% paid), retirement (3% match), company van (take home).
- Respect: You’re not a “sub,” you’re part of the LM team. Our installers stay 20+ years because we treat them like professionals.
- Pride: You work for a company customers love (4.8 stars, 449+ reviews). People recognize our name and respect our work.
- Growth opportunity: We’re expanding. If you’re good and want to take on more responsibility (lead installer, crew leader), there’s room to grow.

- Compensation Benefits:
- Pay: Experienced carpet installers typically earn $50K-$75K+ annually, top performers exceed $80K
- Health Insurance: 100% of employee premium paid by LM
- Retirement: Simple IRA with 3% company match
