Job Detail
- Remodel existing buildings which involves tearing out existing walls, ceiling and floors, laying out from plans, framing walls, applying siding such as sheetrock and paneling and putting up ceiling tile, hanging doors, windows, trimming ceilings and nailing baseboards.
- Maintenance, construction and repair of facilities and furniture, ensure the comfort and safety of the persons living on the Pinecrest grounds.
- Repairs to sidewalks enable persons to move from place to place independently.
- Perform detailed carpenter duties involving building cabinets, vanities, bookcases, lay out of frame work, trim work, floor tile and vinyl floor laying and all phases of finish carpenter work.
- Requires contacting department heads and/or their subordinates to obtain details on dimensions and special needs in designing various items.
- Calculate and requisition materials from warehouse after planning.
- Sets the pace and directs the work of subordinates and trades personnel as needed to complete the job.
- Reports to unit foreman of progress of work and notifies foreman of any major problems that may occur.
- Must be able to use radial arm saw, table saw, finish air nailer, frame air nailer, router, electric drill, hammer, measuring tools, planer, shaper, jointer, work lathe, drill press and other tools needed to complete the job.
- Perform general maintenance on buildings.
- Build pavilions and sheds to include site preparation, layout, forming and pouring concrete.
- Build beams, set posts, frames-in, set joists and rafters, deck room and trim cut.
- Build computer stations, entertainment centers, bookcases and other shop-built items.
- Other duties as needed to insure the smooth flow of work within the job unit.
- Position-Specific Details: Location: Pinecrest Supports and Services Center – LDH Carpenter/Paint Shop Shift: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm Pass Days: Saturday and Sunday Appointment Type: This position may be filled by Probation, Promotion, Demotion, Lateral Transfer or Detail to Special Duty. Preferences may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.
