Automation Technician – West Texas Area

Role Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automation Technician to join our growing team in the West Texas Area- In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and programming of automation systems and electrical equipment
- You’ll work closely with engineers and technicians to ensure smooth, reliable operations of field automation systems
Key Responsibilities • Provide day-to-day support, preventive maintenance, and programming for automation equipment at field locations including well sites, SWDs, compressor stations, and tank batteries • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot facility and wellsite communication equipment and instruments, including PLCs and VSDs • Perform installation, calibration, maintenance, and repairs of instrumentation, communication, and electrical equipment with minimal supervision • Conduct planned maintenance checks and calibration; complete and submit all required reports in a timely manner • Troubleshoot and program PLCs and related automation systems • Lead automation failure analysis and provide recommendations for system improvements • Maintain strict adherence to company safety policies and procedures • Collaborate regularly with the operations team, SCADA/IT group, measurement, and engineering departments to ensure seamless system integration and performance
Qualifications • 5 years of experience in automation, instrumentation, or a related field • 3 years of automation experience in the oil and gas industry preferred • Associate degree or trade certification in Instrumentation, Electronics Technology, or related discipline • Proficiency in troubleshooting automated systems and diagnosing technical issues • Experience with communication equipment (cell modems, radios, network switches, etc- )
• PLC programming and troubleshooting experience • Familiarity with systems such as Allen Bradley, Automation Direct, ABB, SCADAPack, Redlion, and ROC, including HMI and drive systems • Strong understanding of electrical systems, P&IDs, and C&E drawings • Skilled in preventive maintenance and system optimization • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in field environments • Experience with robotics systems setup, servicing, and optimization is a plus • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
