Job Detail
  • Accountable for providing functionality, and for assuring reliability and availability, of computing infrastructure through either a design or operational perspective
  • Requires advanced problem-solving skills with little or no assistance and/or supervision within minimal time constraints
  • Position require 24×7 availability for critical components and systems
  • Maintains ownership and accountability for the “health” of certain technologies being supported
  • Serves as the point of contact for specific infrastructure components and services
  • Performs, and guide others in performing, the design or operation of a full range of infrastructure technologies and processes needed to provide solutions to complex IT services, problems, or opportunities
  • Performs assigned duties independently, has latitude for making design and operational decisions on a technology component level, and discusses or seeks approval on more complex/broader issues with the Supervisor, Lead Technologist, or Senior Technologist
  • Assists in project management activities by contributing to the development of project plans, estimating work, task scheduling, assigning work, cost/benefit analysis and progress reporting

  • Builds partnerships with internal customers and collaborates with vendors, consultants, and other ISD personnel to achieve solutions to the defined technical and business needs
  • This can include training customers on end user products, new services, and core technologies
  • Assists with planning, directing, and reviewing the day-to-day work of other team members
  • Assists in training technical staff on technical tools and new technologies
  • Provides technical guidance and IT process expertise on projects or system issues to other infrastructure group staff

  • Keeps abreast of the latest developments in information technology
  • Is committed to continuous improvement of the technologies, support services and processes being delivered to support the Corporation’s IT needs



  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    High school diploma or GED equivalent, plus 8 or more years relevant IT experience, or;
  • Associates degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related with 4 years relevant IT experience
  • 2 or more years’ experience with large-scale hardware and software platforms in multi-technology environments
  • Knowledge in most major infrastructure technologies including network, server, system software, storage or workstation hardware and software



  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Four-year college degree (BS or BA) in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or another technical field
