Job Description

Job Detail
  • Half hitch and pull Cat6 cable through cable trays and conduits
  • Dress Cat6 cables at workstation locations and TR/IDF locations
  • Understand basic Cat6 4 pair color code
  • Terminate Cat6 cable on a variety of data jacks and patch panels
  • Perform basic module testing of Cat6 cables

    N2:

    Understanding the pinouts of 8P8C RJ45 connectors as they relate to the colored pairs and their assigned pin number for 568A/B terminations
  • Can terminate 8P8C RJ45 connectors with proficiency
  • Understands the basic logic of patching cables from switch to patch panel and from the outlet to the workstation or network device
  • Can operate a Fluke analyzer for testing cat6 cables
  • Understands and executes good practices in labeling communications outlets

    N3:

    Knows the 12-wire color code
  • Understands and performs 66 and 110 terminations of Cat6 cable on phone blocks
  • Understands network logic to the extent of building dry pair outlets and extending data circuits
  • Can read Topology drawings
  • Understands cat6 wire ratings (CMR, CMP)
  • Can lead projects with 50 Cat6 cables with proficiency
  • Maintains a minimum of 1 Cat6 credential – manufacturer specific or other

    High School Diploma or G

  • D
  • equivalent
  • Dependable vehicle for transportation to and from work
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be licensed to work in TX
