Job Detail
- Operate drill rigs and manage drilling operations for auger borings, rock coring, monitoring wells, and other drilling types.
- Select appropriate drilling methods for various conditions and projects.
- Collect and accurately log field data, following project specifications and instructions.
- Maintain detailed records, including boring/coring logs, samples, and other required documentation.
- Supervise and train drilling assistants on-site, ensuring effective teamwork and safety.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, schedulers, and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure daily production targets are met and drill crew time is used efficiently based on the project scope.
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and overall condition of drill rigs, support trucks, and related equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and perform or arrange necessary repairs.
- Adhere to and promote safe work practices, utilizing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Ensure the safety of the drill crew and other personnel on-site.
- Operate commercial motor vehicles, including drill rigs and support vehicles, in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for commercial vehicle operations, including daily inspections and required record-keeping.
- Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant drilling experience.
- Licenses: Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
- Training: 40-hour Hazmat Training preferred.
- Driving Record: Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s fleet insurance policy. Driving history will be reviewed.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass background checks for military, industrial, port, and other client sites.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully in outdoor environments that may include extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, humid).
- Must be able to stand for long periods, perform repetitive motions, and lift/move up to 40 pounds regularly, up to 60-80 pounds frequently, and over 100 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to drive long distances and work extended hours with a small crew.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality as per ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Effective verbal communication skills for clear and concise communication, including on the phone.
