Commercial HVAC Installer

The Commercial HVAC Installer is responsible for the installation, service, and preventative maintenance (PMs) of commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role requires strong technical knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The Installer will work on a range of commercial projects — including offices, retail spaces, multifamily properties, and light industrial facilities — ensuring systems are installed, serviced, and maintained efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with local and national codes.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; trade or technical school certification preferred
3+ years of experience in commercial HVAC installation, service, or related field
EPA Universal Certification required
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in varying environmental conditions (heat, confined spaces, heights, etc.)
Knowledge of mechanical drawings, ductwork layouts, and electrical schematics
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in the installation of RTUs, split systems, VAV systems, ductwork, and controls
Strong understanding of refrigeration principles, airflow, and system balancing
Ability to braze, solder, and perform basic electrical connections
Excellent troubleshooting and problemsolving skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Attention to detail and commitment to highquality workmanship
Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and company safety policies
Time management skills to meet project deadlines and maintain productivity
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:
Install, service, and perform preventative maintenance on commercial HVAC systems, including equipment, ductwork, piping, and controls
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and installation manuals to ensure accurate installation and service
Test system functionality and verify proper operation per manufacturer and code requirements
Assist with system startups, commissioning, and verification of performance
Maintain clean and organized job sites, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations
Communicate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and other trades to coordinate workflow
Complete required documentation, including installation and service reports
Mentor apprentices or junior installers when assigned
Report material or equipment needs promptly to prevent project delays
General Conditions and Duties:
Other duties as assigned. Some positions & tasks may involve moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels, and require hearing protection.
