Utilities maintenance division: the mission of the utilities maintenance division is to provide responsible operation and maintenance of the water and sewer lines, fire hydrants, valves, manholes, and lift stations to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of jacksonville.

$37,332.05 – $59,729.49 a year

Employment Experience is required

• Operates mini excavator, backhoe, front loader, tandem dump trucks, bucket truck and related equipment in the maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, curbs and gutters and utility lines.
• Operates commercial sewer jet trucks
• Mows public rights-of-way and around public buildings.
• Operates large and small mechanized mowers and push mowers in performance of tasks.
• Uses weed eaters to cut ditch banks.
• Makes minor repairs and adjustments to equipment
• Trims and mulches trees and shrubs.
• Grinds tree stumps.
• Performs related tasks as required.
• Required Education and Experience
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. A Class B CDL is required for this position.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• General knowledge of the principles and practices of operating mowers and light construction equipment. general knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation. general knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary to the proper operation of varied construction and maintenance equipment. skill in the use of equipment to which assigned. ability to understand and follow oral and writ10directions. mechanical aptitude. ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment. ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
