Job Detail
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and other heavy equipment components using schematics and automotive diagnostics tools.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, shocks struts replacement, wheel alignments, and fluid checks to maximize equipment lifespan.
- Repair and overhaul diesel engines and related systems on a variety of machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and tractor-trailers.
- Fabricate parts or modify existing components using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific repair needs.
- Assemble new equipment or replace worn parts with precision to ensure optimal operation.
- Use heavy lifting techniques safely when handling large components or equipment during repairs or replacements.
- Interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues accurately.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs performed and parts used for each piece of equipment.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards such as OSHA regulations related to heavy equipment operation and vehicle maintenance.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status clearly and offering maintenance advice to clients or team members.

- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with dealership experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and suspension components.
- Hands-on experience with automotive repair tools including hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and diagnostic scanners.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics for complex machinery such as Caterpillar equipment or similar industrial vehicles.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures for tractor-trailers and other large commercial vehicles.
- Skills in fabrication techniques like welding and assembly to customize or repair parts effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently using automotive diagnostics tools.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely while working in various environments.
- Strong attention to detail combined with good communication skills for accurate record keeping and customer interactions.
- Relevant certifications such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence), CDL (Commercial Driver’s License), or specialized training in hydraulics or air brake systems are advantageous.
