  • Lead diesel mechanics oversee the work of the other mechanics. Assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensure that work is completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements. correcting vehicle deficiencies. adjusting and alignments. keeping records
  • Determine the vehicles condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests: identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing components and part upgrades.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics. making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting tests, driving, adjusting controls, and systems.
  • Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors
  • Possess, provide and maintain tools necessary to perform tasks related to maintenance
  • Maintain a working knowledge of and keep up with the latest technology using technical manuals and attendance of technical training seminars and testing
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading
