Diesel technician – full-time 1099 contractorpope fleet services sumter, sc on-site year-round steady worklooking for a dependable tech (junior accepted, mid-level or higher strongly preferred) whose main job will be keeping our fleet of bucket trucks, service bodies, and road tractors in top shape — mostly preventative maintenance and light repairs.

$20 – $30 an hour

Work Accomplishments is required

• Perform scheduled PMs on bucket trucks (Altec, Terex, Versalift, etc.), diesel pickups, and Class 8 tractors
• Crawl under trucks to grease the driveshaft, slip yokes, U-joints, and all grease points
• Check/top-off differentials, transfer cases, and all fluid levels
• Oil changes, filters, brake inspections adjustments, DOT inspections
• Light to medium repairs (brakes, lights, minor electrical, suspension, etc.)
• Mount/dismount and handle 22.5 semi tires wheels (you must be physically able to lift and move these safely)
• Assist senior techs on bigger jobs when needed
• Keep the shop and bays clean — sweep, organize, put tools away
• Flexible schedule — early mornings, occasional late nights or Saturdays
• What You Bring
• Minimum 1+ years hands-on diesel/truck/heavy equipment experience (lube tech or farm/construction background counts)
• Preferred 4–10+ years and real bucket-truck or fleet experience
• Physically capable of crawling under trucks and lifting 22.5 tires/rims all day
• Strong common sense and attention to detail — we don’t micromanage people who “get it”
• Must own your tools or be open to purchasing (Limited amount needed)
• Valid driver’s license + clean record (Class B CDL with air brakes is a big plus)
• Pay – 1099 (You keep more of every dollar)
• Junior/entry-level: $20-$28/hr
• Mid-level: $35–$43/hr
• Senior/bucket truck expert: $44–$55+/hr Paid weekly
• 40–50+ hours most weeks (you choose the OT)
• If you show up on time, do clean work, grease every fitting, check every fluid, and don’t cut corners, you’ll make great money here and never be out of work.
• Pay: $20 – $30 per hour
