Job Detail
- MAIN ACTIVITIES Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Perform daily safety and maintenance checks Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required. Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored. Advise the Supervisor on the job of any requirements for maintenance or repairs. Participate in routine maintenance. Practice workplace safety
- EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
- KNOWLEDGE OF: Safety regulations and precautions pertaining to vehicle use. Safe and proper use of assigned equipment and tools.
- ABILITY TO: Ability to maneuver heavy equipment with shear/bucket/pulverizing attachments. The ability to work safely in the area of demolition using heavy equipment to demolish various structures. Ability to work at various job sites as required. The ability to understand and follow instructions from Supervisors. The ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams and plans. Ability to follow all safety instructions. Ability to report to work on time and as scheduled.
- TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Incumbent drives on surface streets and operates equipment on unpaved surfaces. Worker occasionally works past normal office hours to complete assignments. The Heavy Equipment Operator has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects. The Heavy Equipment Operator will have to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold. The Heavy Equipment Operator must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient way
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Requires the mobility to perform vehicle operating duties. The Heavy Equipment Operator has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects. The Heavy Equipment Operator will have to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Previously worked in a construction or demolition environment as a Heavy Equipment Operator for 3(3) to five(5) years working on several of the following machines: Dozer, Excavator, High Reach, Lift Truck, Wheel Loader, and Skid Steer Screener. Education High school diploma or GED equivalent. Formal training in Machine Operation from an accredited training facility
