Job Title
Position: Screed Operator- Asphalt Paving

Job Brief
Summary the screed operator is responsible for operating and adjusting the screed on an asphalt paver to ensure asphalt is applied smoothly, evenly, and at the correct depth and grade.

Job Detail
  • Manipulate the screed’s controls (e.g, tow points, angle, automatic grade control) to set the proper depth, grade, and finish of the asphalt.
  • Continuously observe the material flow and consistency to ensure a smooth and uniform final surface.
  • Work closely with the paver operator and the rest of the crew to maintain production and quality standards.
  • Conduct daily inspections, clean, and perform basic maintenance on the screed and other equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safe work environment, sometimes while working in extreme temperatures or near traffic. #INDjobs Requirements:
  • Competencies Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Previous experience operating paving or heavy equipment is of10preferred, with many positions requiring 1-2 years of relevant Screed operator experience.
  • Willing to work outside in all types of weather.
  • Ability to work extended or overtime hours as needed.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSHA guidelines.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with the ability to hold a Med Card.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination, mechanical aptitude, sharp decision-making skills, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.
  • Works well as part of a team.
