- Associate or higher degree from an accredited tech school or college in electronics engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, computer engineering technology or communications technology
- OR have 3-5 years prior field work experience relevant to job description or comparable work experience
- Valid Driver’s License
- Effective Written and verbal communications skills necessary for customer and team interaction
- Knowledge of basic/electrical principles and demonstrated proficiency in basic math skills
- Familiarity with basic computer operations and able to run common application programs such as Microsoft Office Products
- Ability to pass background screening to become NERCI-CIP compliant
Desired Qualifications
Prior experience with electrical schematics, electrical troubleshooting and installations - Familiarity with watt-hour metering and associated equipment including installing, testing, troubleshooting and programming of meters
- Knowledge of Interchange Tie-Testing, Wholesale/Transmission metering and Plant Metering
- Knowledge of high-end metering installations including JemStar, ION, Q1000 and translate meters

- Knowledge and experience working with Mobile Work Management Systems (SS9) application as well as other Duke applications such as Maplink, CBIS, Powertrack, etc

- Demonstrated problem solving and general troubleshooting skills

Working Conditions
Safety is imperative- Work environment is normally outside in varying weather conditions
- Driving is required on a daily basis and occasional overnight stays
- Daily work received and completed via mobile laptops in trucks
- Squatting, lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds is required to handle testing equipment and materials
- Construction sites and congested areas
- occasional work at elevated heights from a ladder, platform or bucket
- Most work performed around energized electrical apparatus
- Frequent customer contact often involving conflict resolution
- Subject to call out, extension of day, and weekend work for scheduled projects or emergency restoration work
- Performance is monitored and evaluated through remote technologies and audits with limited direct supervision
