transformer technician *work locations vary and include, but are not limited to: texas, louisiana, alabama, arkansas, and georgia.. position summary: apc construction is seeking a skilled transformer technician to join our growing team. this role involves the installation, assembly, vacuum filling, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of large power transformers in the field. work includes both new and existing units at substations, generation sites, and industrial facilities. the ideal candidate has hands-on experience with high-voltage systems, transformer oil processing, and diagnostic testing.. key responsibilities:

Job Detail
  • Assemble and disassemble large power transformers (69kV–500kV) in field conditions
  • Perform oil processing, vacuum filling, and degassing operations using mobile oil processing rigs
  • Execute electrical testing procedures, including power factor, SFRA, TTR, insulation resistance, winding resistance, and DGA sampling
  • Troubleshoot and repair transformer components such as bushings, OLTCs, cooling systems, and gauges
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Maintain detailed testing records, field reports, and commissioning documentation
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Operate and maintain specialized high-voltage test equipment and mobile field tools
  • Communicate effectively with clients, engineers, OEM representatives, and internal teams
